About Me

I never set out to be a storyteller.

But life — much like sports — is unpredictable.

At just seven years old, as my mom stepped through the doorway sobbing after returning from the hospital where she had said goodbye to my grandmother, I ran to her, hugged her tightly, and said, “Everything happens for a reason.”

At the time, they were just words from a child trying to comfort his mom. Years later, they became something much bigger.

Because without Beloit College basketball, a global pandemic, a failed moving plan, a former teammate’s last-minute offer and Arizona State’s rolling admission, I may never have found storytelling at all.

Instead, every unexpected detour somehow pushed me toward it.

Since then, experiences with The Stockton Record, The Seattle Times, Cronkite News, The Arizona Republic, BackSportsPage, The Abercrombie Agency, Sports Journalism Institute’s 32nd class and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication have shaped me into a multimedia journalist experienced across nearly every corner of storytelling, communications and audience engagement.

Most recently, my commitment to clear, impactful, inclusive and community-centered storytelling helped revive local sports coverage at The Stockton Record after a yearlong gap, generating nearly 2.5 million page views while contributing to subscriber growth. Alongside covering 29 high schools, I independently developed content strategies, identified timely story opportunities and shaped coverage to maximize audience engagement.

Guided by one lesson shared by ESPN NFL analyst Marcus Spears — “Shake hands, kiss babies, talk to everybody” — my ability to communicate effectively, build trust and adapt quickly has opened doors to stories and opportunities I never imagined possible.

Now, as I look toward what’s next, I believe my work reflects not only those experiences, but also a deeper understanding of what journalism and communications are truly about: delivering information objectively, putting facts above opinion and treating accuracy as non-negotiable.

I’m eager to continue applying my skills in new environments while bringing the same curiosity, work ethic and willingness to grow that have shaped my journey so far.
